Overview
Microsoft Teams is an easy way to pull together a group to share, collaborate and communicate in one central location without the use of phone calls that take time away from our day or emails that can easily get buried. From directly within Teams we can bring everyone together to share information, securely edit files live and at the same time, bring together Microsoft Office 365 apps (OneDrive, OneNote, Planner, Forms, etc) and third-party apps and websites in one place, tag members of the team in conversations or actions and customize the work through adding notes (OneNote and others) and other applications.
Canvas and Microsoft have teamed up to provide a more feature-rich integration between the two tools and allows for easier access to Teams from within Canvas. Here is how you turn on Teams in your Canvas course.
This article will help you get past the "There was a problem connecting your course to Microsoft Teams" when clicking on Microsoft Teams in your Canvas course after you have turned on the LTI integration (click here for instructions on how to do that) and the Team was successfully created.
Fixing the Error
- This error most commonly occurs because you have a conflicting Office 365 account with another institution or organization. To fix this, you will need to either fully log out of that connection, clear your cache, and restart your browser.
- If that does not resolve the issue, you will need to try a private browsing session. To do this
In Google Chrome: Either hit Ctrl-Shift-N or Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, then New Incognito Window
In Microsoft Edge: Either hit Ctrl-Shift-N or Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, then New InPrivate Window
- Now, log in to Canvas in the way you would normally, then attempt to access Microsoft Teams from the course.
