To access resources on our local area network, you need to install the FortiClient VPN client on your computer.
Follow these instructions to install the FortiClient VPN client on your computer.
- You will need to be off-campus and at the computer where you would like to install the VPN client. Click on this link to download FortiClient to your computer: Download FortiClient for MacOS
- Once you have downloaded FortiClient, run the program to start the installer.
- You will be prompted to accept the terms and conditions, then click Next.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Once completed, the service will start automatically - and now we have to configure the VPN connection. Click on the system tray area (lower right corner of the screen), then click on the FortiClient icon, blue shield with a white check mark, as pictured below.
- Next, click on Open FortiClient Console.
- Accept the terms and conditions.
- Next, click on Configure VPN.
- Now you will have to fill in the settings to create the VPN connection as shown below. Here are the settings:
Connection Name: Cedar Crest College
Description: CCC VPN Connection
Remote Gateway: vpn.cedarcrest.edu
Customize Port: 10443
Client Certificate: Prompt on Connect
Username: FalconNet username (IE: basarte)
- Next, click Save or Next.
- You can now connect to the VPN by entering your FalconNet Username and Password, then click Connect.
- During your first connection, you will be prompted to accept the SSL certificate - you must click Yes or the connection will not work properly.
- Next, you will see this Connected dialog box.
