Overview

Many departments inherit or share Access databases, and may need to update or troubleshoot connection errors with linked tables. Below are some basic troubleshooting tips.

Finding ODBC Names and Table Sources

  1. Open the database in Access. Click on the External Data tab and click on Linked Table Manager. 


     
  2. In the new window, you will see a list of all linked tables in the database. In parentheses will be the information you need to create a new ODBC connection on your computer. 
  3. The DSN is the name of the ODBC Connection.
  4. The DATABASE is the default database you are connecting to.
