Customize Your Microsoft 365 Profile & Settings

Overview

Your Cedar Crest College Microsoft 365 account includes a profile picture and personal settings that help you customize your experience in Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 applications.

Cedar Crest synchronizes profile pictures from the College's ID Card System to Microsoft 365 and other campus systems. While you cannot change your Microsoft 365 picture directly, you can request an updated photo.

You can also adjust your Outlook language and time zone settings to ensure your calendar appointments display correctly.

Your Cedar Crest Profile Picture

Cedar Crest College uses your College ID card photo as your official profile picture across several campus systems.

Your picture is synchronized with:

  • My CedarCrest
  • Jenzabar One
  • Microsoft 365, including Outlook and Teams
  • Canvas

Important: Your profile picture may be visible to other members of the Cedar Crest community and to people at other organizations that use Microsoft 365 services.

Request a New Profile Picture

If you do not have a College ID photo or would like to replace your current picture:

  1. Choose a photo that meets the College's photo requirements listed below.
  2. Email your photo to conferenceservices@cedarcrest.edu.
  3. Conference Services will update your picture in the College's ID Card System.
  4. Your updated picture will automatically synchronize with the other campus systems.

You do not need to submit separate requests to update your picture in Outlook, Teams, Canvas, or My CedarCrest.

Photo Requirements

All submitted photos must follow these guidelines:

  • No hats.
  • No sunglasses.
  • A plain wall or simple background is preferred.
  • The photo should show you from the waist or shoulders up.
  • The picture must be of you.

How Long Does It Take for My Photo to Update?

After your new picture is added to the ID Card System, it typically takes 1–5 days to appear across campus systems.

Microsoft 365 applications may take additional time to display the updated picture.

Please note:

  • Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft applications may update at different times.
  • Your new picture may appear in one application before another.
  • There is no way to force all Microsoft applications to update the picture simultaneously.

If your picture has not updated after several days, verify that Conference Services has received and processed your photo request.

Change Your Outlook Time Zone

Your Outlook time zone determines how calendar appointments and meeting invitations appear.

If your calendar shows appointments at the wrong time, check your time zone settings.

Outlook on the Web and New Outlook

  1. Open https://outlook.office.com.
  2. Sign in using your Cedar Crest email address and FalconNet password.
  3. Click Settings (gear icon) in the upper-right corner.
  4. Select Calendar → View.
  5. Find the Time zones section.
  6. Under Display my calendar in time zone, select (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).
  7. Click Save if prompted.

Note: Eastern Time automatically adjusts for daylight saving time, so you do not need to manually switch between EST and EDT.

Classic Outlook for Windows

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select File → Options.
  3. Select Calendar.
  4. Scroll to the Time zones section.
  5. Select Eastern Time (US & Canada).
  6. Click OK.

If calendar appointments still appear at the wrong time, verify that your computer's time zone is also set correctly.

Change Your Outlook Display Language

You can change the language used for menus and settings in Outlook on the web.

  1. Open https://outlook.office.com.
  2. Click Settings (gear icon).
  3. Select General → Language and time.
  4. Choose your preferred display language.
  5. Click Save if prompted.

Changing your Outlook display language does not translate existing email messages.

Troubleshooting

My Profile Picture Is Incorrect or Outdated

Contact conferenceservices@cedarcrest.edu to request a replacement photo.

Do not attempt to update the picture directly through Microsoft 365, as the College's synchronized ID Card System is the source for your official profile picture.

My New Picture Appears in Some Applications but Not Others

This is normal during synchronization. Each Microsoft 365 application updates its displayed profile picture independently.

Allow additional time for the updated picture to appear.

My Outlook Calendar Shows the Wrong Time

  • Verify that your Outlook time zone is set to Eastern Time.
  • Check your computer or mobile device's time zone settings.
  • Restart Outlook after making changes.
  • If the problem continues, contact the IT Help Desk.
