Installing FortiClient VPN for Windows

To access resources on our local area network, you need to install the FortiClient VPN client to your computer. 

Follow these instructions to install the FortiClient VPN client on your computer.​

1. ​​​​You will need to be off-campus and at the computer where you would like to install the VPN client.  Click on this link to download FortiClient on your computer: Download FortiClient for Windows
2. Once you have downloaded FortiClient, run the program to start the installer.
3. You will be prompted to accept the terms and conditions, then click Next.
   
   
    
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
5. Once completed, the service will start automatically - and now we have to configure the VPN connection.  Click on the system tray area (lower right corner of the screen), then click on the FortiClient icon, blue shield with a white check mark, as pictured below.
   
   
    
6. Next, click on Open FortiClient Console.
7. Accept the terms and conditions.
   
   
    
8. Next, click on Configure VPN.
   
   
    
9. Now you will have to fill in the settings to create the VPN  connection as shown below.  Here are the settings:
   
   Connection Name: Cedar Crest College
   Description: CCC VPN Connection
   Remote Gateway: vpn.cedarcrest.edu
   Customize Port: 10443
   Client Certificate: Prompt on Connect
   Username: FalconNet username (IE: basarte)
   
   
10. Next, click Save or Next.
11. You can now connect to the VPN by entering your FalconNet Username and Password, then click Connect. 
12. During your first connection, you will be prompted to accept the SSL certificate - you must click Yes or the connection will not work properly.
    
    
     
13. Next, you will see this Connected dialog box.
