HyFlex Classroom Equipment Selection Instructions

Overview

We have several rooms that have enhanced HyFlex audio and video equipment in them.  As of the writing of this article (April, 2022), here is the list of those rooms:

Blaney 4
Curtis 241
Miller Nutrition Classroom
Oberkotter 1 **
Science 139
South Annex

This equipment is generally in addition to the equipment that was previously in each room.  This means that the older, existing webcam may still be there.  In these cases, you will need to select the new equipment in Teams (or other applications) if you wish to use it.,  Here are brief instructions on how to do that in Microsoft Teams.  Other applications may differ.

Selecting New A/V Equipment in HyFlex Classrooms

  1. On the Meeting Join dialog that pops up before you enter your meeting/class, click on the two sliders icon (circled in red below) to open Device Settings.  Note: You can still access these settings while in the meeting by clicking on the three dots.

  2. Once Device Settins is open, you will want to check the settings for "Speaker", "Microphone", and "Camera" to make sure they are correct.  They should be set to (note, the names may vary slightly from room to room):
    Speaker: ExtronScaler...  (NOTE: In Oberkotter 1, select the RealTek speaker option)
    Microphone: Line (2 PreSonus...)
    Camera: USB Capture SDI


     
  3. Click the X to close the panel, and the settings will be saved for future meetings (in your profile) in this room.
  4. Note: this camera is focused on the front of the room only, and does not move.  If you wish to capture other areas of the room, you need to use the USB Webcam option.
