Using the FalconCharge Battery Station in The Narrows or HBB

Overview

The campus now features two FalconCharge battery stations.  One is located in the back room of The Narrows, while the other is in The Lounge in HBB.  

These battery packs are Omnicharge 20+ units and can charge any mobile device, including laptops, tablets, phones -- or anything that has a USB-C or Qi Wireless capability.

In order to complete this process, you will need:
-  a mobile device running Apple's iOS or Google Android.
- Bluetooth enabled on the device
- Any associated cables (power adapter for your laptop, USB A or USB C cable)
- Access to your Cedar Crest College email.

Creating Your Account and Checking Out a Charger

  • First, you will need to download and install the Omni Power Station app on your mobile phone or tablet. 
    You must use your Cedar Crest Email address to sign up for this service.

  • Next, install the app as directed on your mobile device.
  • When you open the app the first time, it will ask you to log in.  Input your Cedar Crest Email address and tap Sign in with Email.  Please note that only your Cedar Crest Email is accepted.  If you try to check out a battery with an email address that does not end in @cedarcrest.edu, the battery will not work.


     
  • Next, you will be asked to set a new password.  Choose wisely, then tap the blue Next link in the upper-right corner of the screen.


     
  • Now, you will be sent a confirmation email to your Cedar Crest email.  The email will be from "smartcenter" and look like the image below.  It will have a 4 digit code that you will need to put in your app.


     
  • Put the 4-digit code into the app.
  • Now, you will be taken to the home screen that shows you how to remove a battery from the charging station.  Remove a battery as shown and tap Pair Charger.


     
  • The app will begin searching for a battery and show a screen with blue circles on it.  Once it finds the charged you took from the station, it will ask for the 4 digit code shown on the LED display of the charger.


     
  • Input this code into the app.  The screen will change to show your rental status.


     
  • Congratulations!  You have now successfully checked out a power station!  To charge your device(s),   You will notice the following ports, all of which you can use to charge your devices at the same time:
    - (1) AC Adapter port
    - (2) USB A ports
    - (1) USB C port
    - (1) Qi-compatible wireless charging platform (top of device with symbol)
     

Returning and Checking in a Charger

  • Simply place the charger back in the charging station.  The slot you put it in does not matter, but it must show that it is charging to check itself in.
  • Note: the battery will only charge inside the original FalconCharge station that you removed it from.  You cannot charge it any other way.  For example, if you check a battery out from HBB, you must return it to HBB.  You cannot return it to The Narrows.
  • Once you return the battery, you will receive a notification in the app and an email.  It can take anywhere from 1-5 minutes for this to occur.
