AxisTV: Replacing an Existing Visix Digital Signage Player

Overview

Every so often, a drive dies, or there is some other reason to replace the computer on the digital signage -- here is an overview of how that works.

How To

Player Prep:

  1. Sign into your Manage webUI and navigate to Administer -> PC Players
  2. Locate the player that you wish to re-register, take note of the aspect ratio, then select the player and remove it.

Player Registration:

  1. Sign into your player and open up the Start Menu, open up AxisTV Engage, and then the Configuration utility.
  2. Select the Configuration tab. If you are directly on the player proceed to next step, if you are remoting into this player uncheck the box to "stretch playback across entire screen". Ensure the resolution fits your desired aspect ratio, i.e., 1920x1080 = 16:9, 1080x1920 = 9:16. Then click Save at the bottom.
  3. The Save button will turn into a Register button, select Register.
  4. Input your Manage URL (https://cloud105.visix.com/manage), then input the Org ID (6d1c8748a5a841a28c29db7eae2f30d8).
To get your Org ID, sign into the Manage webUI, click the waffle icon top right side, select Administer, then Organizations, and the Org ID is listed on this page
  5. Select Test, and if successful you'll be asked to set the Sub Org if applicable, set a Friendly and DNS Name, and then complete registration
  6. Return to the Configuration utility on the player, if you unchecked the box to stretch playback in step 2 recheck and hit Save at the bottom.
  7. Reboot your player.

Player Registration:
Once the player registers, it will grab the first playlist it sees in alphabetical order that matches its aspect ratio. This may not be the one you want, so you'll then go in and assign the correct playlist.

  1. Sign in to Manage webUI, select the hamburger icon at the top left, and go to PC Players
  2. Find your player in the list and select it, look to the right, and confirm the Default Playlist is your desired playlist. If not, wait for the Change Layout Playlist button to pop up and select that to change the playlist on this player.
