Using AirParrot and Reflector to Mirror Laptops

Mirroring Devices

We have products called AirParrot and Reflector that allow any Windows or Apple device to be mirrored to the podium computers.  These instructions are for Windows devices only.  For Apple devices (MacBooks or iPads) you can connect via AirPlay and do not need Reflector.

Note: Not all classroom computers have the software installed.  If you want to use this in your class, please put in a help desk ticket (email helpdesk@cedarcrest.edu) at least two weeks before you want to use the software.

Here is how you do it.

Mirror Your Computer to the Podium

To do this, your computer must have AirParrot installed and the Podium must have Reflector.

  1. Open Reflector on the podium computer.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Note the Broadcast Name and Quick Connect Code number - they may both be needed.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Start AirParrot on your laptop.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. In AirParrot you will see A LOT OF DEVICES.  This list includes every device on our network that runs AirPlay.  The number depends on the day and time.  I see 32 as I write these instructions.  First, look at the list to see if the device name in question is there.  If it does, click on the device name to connect.

  5. Once you do that, it will connect.  It may ask for a passcode. If it does, look on the podium computer for that code and enter it into your device.  Once you do that, it will connect.

If it does not show up in the list, enter the code (in this case, 4D0DLN3) and it will then connect.

  6. You can then minimize Reflector and work off your laptop, it will be displayed on the podium/projector.  You can move and resize the window on the podium computer to fit the size of the screen if you wish.
  7. To disconnect, either click on the name on your laptop or click the red X in the computer connection list in the Reflector control panel (that you previously minimized).
