Installing Code42 CrashPlan to Backup Your Computer for Replacement

Overview

The Office of Information Technology has licensed a product called CrashPlan from Code42 to assist in backing up and restoring files during the lease replacement process.  Here is how you download and install this software.  This software automatically backs up your 

Windows

  1. First, download the version that is correct for the version of Windows you have on your computer.  Don't know?  That's OK, use the Windows 7 version.
  2. Click here to download the CrashPlan for Windows 10 -- or click here to download CrashPlan for Windows 7.  You will be taken to a new OneDrive web page, click Download.
  3. Double-click, and follow the instructions to install the software.
  4. When you reach the end of the installation, it will ask you for a user name and server name. 
  5. You have received a user name via email, and the server name is: clients.us.code42.com
  6. Next, it will ask for your password - you have received that via email, as well.  Input your password, and click Continue.
  7. Once it has connected to your account, provisioned the space - it will start backing up immediately.

MacOS

  1. Click here to download the CrashPlan software for MacOS to your computer.  You will be taken to a new OneDrive web page, click Download.
  2. Run the downloaded PKG file from your Downloads.
  3. When the CODE42 window opens, double click "Install Code42 CrashPlan" to begin the installation.


     
  4. Follow the dialog boxes to complete the software installation.
  5. When you reach the end of the installation, it will ask you for a user name and server name.
  6. You have received a user name via email, and the server name is: clients.us.code42.com - click Continue.

     
  7. Next, it will ask for your password - you have received that via email, as well - input the password and click Continue.


     
  8. After it connects and creates your storage space, it will automatically begin backing up.
