Using HeyTaco! to Show Praise in Teams

Tags heytaco

Overview

HeyTaco! is a free app that you can add to your Microsoft Team to allow yourself and team members show your appreciation with each other.

Whenever you'd like to add a little happiness to someone's day, give them a taco, and include a nice message. Just mention their username, write your message, and add a taco emoji, it's easy!

How it Works

Getting started

  • Everyone has 5 tacos to give out per day.
  • Tacos can only be given in channels HeyTaco! is in. To invite HeyTaco! to more channels, see Adding HeyTaco! to other channels. (must be an owner of the team to do this)
  • There are a bunch of commands HeyTaco! understands.

Giving a Taco

How-To Video from HeyTaco!

  1. In the public (General) channel of the Team, start a new conversation.
  2. First enter @HeyTaco!
  3. Next, enter the taco emoji by typing :taco:  (if you want to give more than one taco, enter that amount of taco emojis)
  4. Third, add the person you want to gift a taco by adding their name mention, for example @Severus Snape
  5. Finally, let your coworker know how awesome they are!

Examples:

  • @HeyTaco! :taco: thank you @hermione granger for having close attention to detail and going the extra mile!
  • @HeyTaco! give @colin creevey :taco: :taco: for making the greatest design view ever!
  • @HeyTaco! give @minerva mcgonagall :taco:  for taking this project and running with it, even if it feels like you’re running in place.

Multi-person examples:

  • @HeyTaco! for @hagrid and @fang :taco: I really appreciate your positivity!
  • @HeyTaco! give :taco: to @neville longbottom and @luna lovegood for helping make the office a better place.
