Accessing Local Network Files in FalconLink

Overview

FalconLink is the universal application launch pad for Cedar Crest College's many applications.  Within FalconLink you will have the ability to change your FalconNet password, access your Cedar Crest Online (Canvas) courses, connect with Microsoft Office applications after signing in with your FalconNet account, MyCedarCrest, and much more.  Additionally, these services will all be linked via your login credentials to allow for either single sign on, or saved sign on capabilities.

FalconLink includes a feature called MyFiles that allows you to access and use your files that exist on our local network and your Microsoft OneDrive from within FalconLink.  Here is how that feature works.

Instructions on Accessing MyFiles

  1. From the FalconLink Launchpad, click on the blue folder icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Once you have clicked on the blue folder icon, a new browser window will appear telling you that MyFiles is loading.  Once in MyFiles, you will see your the network drives available to you.  Note: If you do not see a network drive that you need access to via FalconLink MyFiles, please click here and put in a help desk ticket requesting access via FalconLink.

  3. From this screen, you can click on the drive you need to access and navigate through the folder just as you would if you were on-campus.  Some files will open when you click them, others will ask for you to download them (depending on the type of file).
  4. You can also create folders, new files, and Office documents by clicking on New and selecting what you would like to create.  For example: clicking the Word Document will open Microsoft Word in a new window and allow you to work directly in the document while still in your web browser.

  5. You can also click the Upload button to upload entire folders or individual files to the network.
