Technology Standards

Purpose

To assure compatibility and consistency across campus, the Office of Information Technology publishes this Technology Standards document. This document defines the standards used in campus-wise technology devices. This document is not all-inclusive of the technology used on campus, but is meant to be used as a watermark by which to measure and evaluate technology initiatives.

This policy will help ensure that all technology (hardware and software):

  • is compatible with the college network environment;
  • complies with the college technology security policy;
  • and can be supported (hardware or software).

Technology Standards:

Desktop Computer:

  • Intel Core i5 Processor

Server Platform:

  • Microsoft Windows 2016
  • Active Directory 2012R2 Native Mode

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (versions 1909, 2004, 20H2, 21H1 only)
  • Apple macOS (versions 10.14 (Mojave), 10.15 (Catalina), 11 (Big Sur) only)

Note: Operating systems and versions not listed here cannot be supported by CCCOIT.

Authentication:

  • Active Directory / LDAP
  • 802.1x

Wired Networking:

  • 1GB Wired Network Connection (CAT 6 cabling)

Wireless Networking:

  • 802.11n and 802.11ac 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ
  • 802.1x Authentication Required
  • WPA2 Supported for Devices Technology Standards
  • EduRoam Supported**

Printing:

  • Laser Technology (Inkjet printers no longer supported)
  • Network (wired) connected
  • Mono / Color

* - For laptops: keyboard, mouse, monitor, and port replicator are provided for Director and above only.  Departments may purchase a port replicator, keyboard, mouse, and monitor through the Office of Information Technology per the purchasing policy.
