Sharing Teams Meetings Recording with Students using Stream and Cedar Crest Online (Canvas)

Overview

Holding meetings online is a convenient way to connect with people, and Microsoft Teams helps us do this.  You can record and share these meetings in the case that you want others to see the live event later, or you want to pre-record a session or lecture to share with others asynchronously.  Here is how you do that.

Recording and Sharing with GoToMeeting, Stream and Canvas

  1. Start your Teams Meeting.
  2. In Teams, click the three ellipses, then click "Record and transcribe" and choose "Start recording" in the pop-up screen 
    1. If you do not want transcription go back to "Record and transcribe" and click "Stop transcription" 
    2. If you want the transcription but do not want it shown in the discussion click "Hide transcription"
  3. Hold your meeting/session, then click the three ellipses, the click Stop Recording 
  4. Once you stop your recording, Teams will automatically upload that recording to your private Stream recordings.
  5. To access your stream video either:
    1. Go to Office365
    2. Go to FalconLink and choose Office 365 Suite icon
  6. Login, choose the Apps icon to the left of the screen, in the new page select "Stream" (icon shown below) and your video will be seen under All videosPhoto of stream icon under office 365
    1. *or skip steps 5 and 6 by finding the recorded video under the Teams page channel and choose the ellipses in the top right corner, in the pop up menu choose "Open in Stream"

If you would like to share this link to your Canvas follow the steps below: 

  1. Click Share, copy link and copy the URL in the share dialog box.
    1. Processing in Stream can take 5-30 minutes depending on the length of the video, but you can still paste this link in Canvas.
  2. Open Canvas, and then navigate to your course.  Navigate to your module.
  3. Click the "+" on the right of your module
  4. In the new window choose the drop down menu to the right of "Add" and select "External URL"
  5. Paste the stream link into the "URL:" text box and type in the name of the link into the "Page Name:" text box
  6. Select "Add Item"
  7. Save your module.
  8. Your video link is now inserted into your Canvas module.
  9. Note: Students may be asked to log into Stream with their FalconNet username and password if they are not already logged into Office.Com.
