Accessing a Shared Mailbox in Outlook in a Web Browser

Overview

For employees or those using the Outlook desktop client, shared mailboxes that you have delegate access to will appear in your folder list automatically.  If you are using the Outlook Web App from a web browser, you will need to open the shared mailbox each time to access it. 

Directions

  1. Login to https://office.com, then click on Outlook.
  2. Once you see your inbox, click on your avatar (blank head, or picture) at the top right.


     
  3. Select Open another mailbox from the dropdown.
  4. In the prompt that comes up, start typing the full name of the mailbox you wish to open, not the email name.  If the name does not autofill, type it in and select “search contacts and directory” to find the mailbox.


     
  5. Once you have selected the correct mailbox, click Open to be brought to a new window with the other mailbox.
  6. If you know you will be accessing the mailbox often, you can bookmark the URL for future use.
