Finding MAC Addresses for Popular Devices

Overview

Below is a list of directions to find the MAC address of the most popular streaming devices used on campus. If you do not see your device listed, you may need to contact the manufacturer or visit their website for assistance.

Smart TVs

Device Finding the MAC Address
Insignia

To locate your Insignia Smart TV MAC address you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Press ENTER. The settings menu opens. (or press Menu)
  2. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Network, Then press ENTER.
  3. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Wired or Wireless, then press ENTER.
    (Note that the wired MAC address and the wireless MAC address are different)
    • The MAC address will be listed as either Ethernet Address or Wired MAC Address.
Samsung

To locate your Samsung Smart TV MAC address you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Network, Then press ENTER.
  3. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Network Settings, Then press ENTER.
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Wired or Wireless, then press ENTER.
    (Note that the wired MAC address and the wireless MAC address are different)
  5. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Network Test, then press ENTER.
    • The wired MAC address will be listed as either 
      Ethernet Address or Wired MAC Address at the top of the screen.
Sharp

To locate your Sharp Smart TV MAC address you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Press the Menu on the remote.
  2. Press ◀ or ▶ to highlight Initial Setup, then press Enter.
  3. Press ▲ or ▼ to select Internet Setup, then press Enter.
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to select Network Setup, then press Enter.
  5. Press ▲ or ▼ to select Connection Type, then press Enter.
  6. Press ◀ or ▶ to highlight Wired or Wireless, then press Enter.
  7. Press ▲ or ▼ to select IP Setup, then press 
  8. The MAC Address should be on the bottom of the page.
Sony

To locate your Sony Smart TV MAC address you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Press the Home
  2. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Settings, then press Enter.
  3. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Network Setup, then press Enter.
  4. From the menu, select Wired or Wireless Setup, then press Enter.
  5. Click on Network Setup - Status and the MAC Address should be on the screen.
TCL

To locate your Vizio Smart TV MAC addresses you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Go to System
  2. Select Network
  3. Scroll Down and look for Wireless MAC Address.
  4. The Wi-Fi MAC address will be displayed on the screen.
Vizio

To locate your Vizio Smart TV MAC addresses you will have to navigate to the Network settings.

To navigate to the Network Settings follow these instructions

  1. Press Menu on the remote.
  2. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight the Network, then press OK.
  3. The Network Connection menu displays.
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to highlight Manual Setup,Then press OK. The IP Settings menu is displayed.
  5. At the bottom of the menu the MAC addresses are displayed.

Streaming Devices

Apple TV
  1. With your Apple TV remote, navigate to and select the Settings icon.
  2. From the Settings menu, select General.
  3. Under General, select Network.
  4. Your MAC Address will be next to either Wi-Fi Address or Ethernet Address, depending on how you are connected to the internet.
Amazon Fire TV / Stick
  1. Go to your Home Screen
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to System
  4. Go to About
  5. Go to Network
  6. Locate the MAC (Hardware) address
ChromeCast Locating the MAC address during Chromecast setup
  1. From the "Connect to Wi-Fi" screen of the setup process, tap More icon located in the top right corner.
  2. Tap Show MAC Address.
Locating the MAC address after Chromecast setup
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Chromecast device.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll down to Information to find your MAC address.
Roku/Roku Express
  1. On the back of your Roku there are six 2-digit pairs of numbers/letters separated by colons, e.g. 00:0D:0A:1H:3G:5C. One set is for Ethernet and the other set is for the wireless.
  2. Alternatively, from the Roku home screen, select Settings then Network and locate the value next to Wireless MAC Address.

Gaming Devices

Nintendo 3DS/XL

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. Go to System Settings
  2. Select Internet Settings
  3. Select Other Information
  4. Select Confirm MAC Address
  5. The MAC Address is displayed on the screen.
Nintendo Switch

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. Select the "System Settings" from the Home Menu
  2. Scroll down through the menu and select "Internet"
  3. The console's MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address"
Nintendo Wii

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. Start up the Wii to its channel menu
  2. In the bottom-left corner of the screen select the circle that says Wii
  3. Then select the option on the right that says Wii Settings
  4. Click the right arrow to the second page and then select Internet and then Console Information
  5. The wireless hardware/MAC address should be listed
    • Two options will appear if you have a LAN adapter installed
Nintendo Wii U

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. Navigate to System Settings from the Wii U Menu
  2. Select Internet
  3. Select View Mac Address
  4. Your MAC address is displayed here
Playstation 3

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. Start up the Playstation to the main menu (i.e. without a disc in the drive)
  2. Navigate to the System Settings icon and select
  3. Within that list find the option that says System Information and select
  4. In that list you will find your MAC Address
Playstation 4

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. On the XMB menu scroll to the right to Settings
  2. Navigate down to and open Network page
  3. Navigate down to and open View Connection Status page
  4. Your MAC Address should be listed here.
Playstation 5
  1. Power on the PS5 without a disc in the system.
  2. In the PS5 menu, arrow up and select Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Network.
  4. Scroll down to View Connection Status.
  5. The MAC Address will be listed next to MAC Address (LAN) and MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Xbox 360

To obtain the MAC address:

  1. With the system on and on the Xbox dashboard open the system settings option
  2. Go to Network settings then in that window select Configure Network.
  3. There will then be two options, you will want to highlight and click the block of text with “Advanced Settings
  4. From there, look to the bottom left hand corner for the MAC Address.
Xbox One
  1. Navigate to My Games and Apps.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Network.
  4. Select Advanced Settings.
  5. The MAC Addresses for the wired and wireless adapters should be displayed.
  6. Now register your gaming console.

Xbox Series X or Series S

  1. Navigate to the Settings page.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Under IP settings, the MAC address will be listed next to Wired MAC and Wireless MAC on the right-hand side of the screen.

Smart Home Devices

Device Finding the MAC Address
Alexa/Echo                           
  1. Sign in to the app with your Amazon account.
  2. Connect to the wireless network your Alexa or Echo is broadcasting.
  3. Open the left navigation panel and select Settings.
  4. Select your device and then Update Wi-Fi.
  5. Press and hold the Action button until the light ring turns orange.
  6. Select any Wi-Fi network.
  7. Scroll down to the MAC address and note it or take a screenshot.
Google Home
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings (the gear icon) and then Device information.
  4. The MAC address should be listed under Technical information. If it’s not, check the device’s Wi-FI connection.
